Broom 450(2002)

Afloat in Hythe Marina , just launched after full underwater service, and cut and wax , new canopy etc etc ready for new owner and season..
Type Solid semi-planing hull form with skeg keel, single command bridge layout with aft cabin. Dimensions Loa 45' ( 13.7m) Water line 36' (11.0m) Beam 15'3" ( 4.6m) Draught 4' ( 1.2m)
Built By Broom boats in heavy GRP hull and superstructure with hand laid laminates and white gel coats.  Beautiful Natural Cherry interior. To a well respected John Bennett hull Design. A progression from the 44 which has proved its self to be one of Brooms all time great sea boats. Deep vee forward with medium Vee running aft, she is wide at her waterline compared to her waterline length and this combined with her low centre of Gravity seems to make her a very stable platform in many different sea conditions. We have a full TEST REPORT and a copy of an interesting 44 test report of old, Just ask and we will send you a copy. Engines 2 x Yanmar  6CXM-GTE2 500hp six cylinder turbo diesels with less than 300 hours run from new, ( short hours each year ) Driving straight shafts through "P" brackets and Five bladed bronze propellers. These are the NON ELECTRONIC engines and so have simple single lever Morse control cables. They were approximately £28,000 addition over the standard electronic 480hp Volvos at the time as the pilot owner was not a fan of "Electronics" at sea. They gave her around 31 knots when first tested in Southampton water!
